This morning's Touch and Feel was a BIG hit!! The pool was filled....well....not filled.....but, close enough.....with water! There were all kinds of transportation items inside too. Some floated, some sank. There were plastic links to connect, and count, and sort. There were eggs to match....and to help pour the water. We could have spent the whole day at the pool! The kids loved it! And....I'm proud to report.....no spills and only a few splashes!!
Today's book was Captain Duck by Jez Alborough. This book is a silly rhyming story about animals in a boat. Goat thinks his boat is safely tied up, but he doesn't see Duck jump on board. Soon Sheep and Frog are all at sea with their map and thermos of tea. Who knows what dangers are awaiting
when Duck is captain of the boat?
For science today we learned about how sailboat move. Two things are VERY important for sailboats: WIND and WATER! We tested out 2 boats...one boat had a hull, mast and sail and the other boat just had the hull. We used straws to make wind to blow the boats. The boat with the sail moved, but the boat with no sail didn't move. The boat without a sail will definitely need paddles to make it move.
For art today, the kiddos made a sailboat out of different shapes. First, we glued waves and water to the bottom of our paper. Next, the kids colored the hull of their ship and glued it in the water. Then we added the mast to the middle of the boat. Next the kids glued the sail on top of the mast of the boat. The last thing we added to our picture was the sun in the sky. The kids also glued a copy of the poem we made during language circle to their art work so they can read it at home.
Everyone was so excited about Spring Break! I hope you all have a wonderful holiday week!
